Implants

When we lose teeth as adults, our first concern is the annoyance of having to contend with a gap in our bite. We may not realize that there are far greater concerns than difficulties biting and chewing. Bone, like all living tissue, must work to remain healthy and strong. When teeth are removed the bone that held them in place becomes weak and begins to erode away. Bridges and dentures might fill the gaps, but they do nothing to stop bone erosion. Once again science has provided the answer; dental implants!

Single Tooth Implant Case

A survey revealed that dental implant procedures have increased by almost 50% in the past five years. That's because people are discovering that dental implants look very natural and feel secure, allowing patients to speak clearly and eat easily. Implant dentistry is now the long term solution for missing teeth replacement. Dental implants have a 95% success rate over a period of 20 years.

A dental implant is a small biocompatable cylinder. Through a tiny incision, the implant is threaded into the bone becoming biologically fused to the bone. Once fused, this durable, permanent cylinder is ready to receive your ceramic replacement tooth. Not only is the restored tooth stable and ready for use, the bone below the gum is regularly exercised, stopping bone erosion in its tracks. Dental implants can also be used to fasten single teeth, or they can even be "teamed up" to hold full dentures.

In January, 2011 Dr. Kerbs entered a one-year residency program at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry to study the very latest in implant technology and technique. Dr. Kerbs successfully completed this course in December, 2011. With the completion of this exciting program, Dr. Kerbs has the advanced training to be certain that the surgical implant placement is correct and perfect for restoration. This insures the esthetic porcelain crowns can be placed over the dental implants so that they can look natural; so natural that it looks like the tooth grew there on its own. With precision dental implants, Dr. Kerbs opens a whole world of possibilities in helping those who have lost teeth achieve healthy, functioning, and beautiful smiles.
